"The Duathlon"

The race is on! I wanted to capture the movement and the
determination of my then 17 year old as he sped along on his bike in a duathlon. He biked 18
miles and ran a 5K. A sketch, then templates were made from a photo of Greg. Each template
was traced onto freezer paper then MACHINE PIECED together, then finally machine quilted.
I was not confident about my ability to do the facial features, so I designed it with a more graphic feel to it, working with value and pure hues of color. The story continues for this quilt. It is part of the Lost Quilt Web Site... it was stolen out of a classroom while I was teaching. I hope some day it might reappear.
