Fabric Choices:
- I use 3 to 4 fabrics where another quilter will use one. More fabric gives you more options. Consider a combination of large scale prints, hand dyed look, mottled look, geometric, organic look, prints with interesting texture. Ideally, pre-wash all fabrics to remove sizing, but this is not always possible to do.
- Background Sky: 3 to4 fat quarters of light value. Hand dyed look, tone on tone, mottled look. Background should contrast with the fabrics for the flower
- Background Ground: large scraps (approx. 8") or fat quarters of 3 to 4 greens in medium dark/dark values
- Flower: You can create whatever flower color you wish-blue, pink, purple, red, yellow
- Flower Petals: 3 to 5 different fabrics of similiar value. Large scraps(approx. 6")
- Flower Center" Darker fabric. 4" scrap is all that is needed
- Stem/leaf: fat quarter dark value green to contrast with background
Dragonfly: 3 to 4 scraps in tourquoise/blues,(Irredecent look can be created with theads.) Make sure the fabrics contrast with thesky,1/4 yard of fusible web-Wonder Under by Pellon
Finishing Quilt:
These items not needed for the day of the workshop
- Specialty threads, rayons, metallics, cottons and monofilament for machine embellishing and quilting

Classroom Set Up
- 8 foot tables at the front of the class for the instructor
- I do not travel with a sewing machine, so would love to be able to borrow one for live demonstrations. I use a Bernina 440QE at home-something comparable is helpful for me.
- quilt rack or two if available for instructor to hang display quilts
- At least 1/2 of an 8 foot table per student, so there is room for sewing machines, cutting boards, etc.
- Projector screen and projector table for video camera/digital projector use in class
- irons and ironing stations for every 3-4 students
- A flannel board or bulletin board for displaying samples and viewing projects from a distance
